"MasterStrokes" pays homage to four different artists in the field of
gay male erotic art, and according to writer, producer and director Max
Julien (the man behind the helm at MarcoStudio) they have given gay men
self-esteem through their work, and have been inspirational to
generations. Not only that, they made (and continue to make, in one
case) some damn fine erotica, and this DVD is so far one of the best of the
new Buckshot DVD releases, a fine tribute to these men. The artists Julien
has chosen to honor are Bob Mizer, of the Athletic Model Guild, George
Quaintance, Kristen Bjorn and Bill Schmeling, who is better known as
The Hun. In each segment, Julien adds examples of the artists work to his
own fine videography in quick edits that sometimes compare, sometimes
contrast the two.
In the first segment, we learn in a voiceover that a hairy blond muscle
hunk with slightly sweaty, furry buttcheeks (he's on his stomach at
first) has big dreams of modeling for the Athletic Model Guild, publisher of
his favorite magazines. As he peruses an issue, the stud stands and
emulates the poses he sees there. He quickly gets hard and a great solo jerk-off
scene follows. No sooner does our stud finish up than his buddy
appears, a huge, thick hunky stud who gets down to his jock in nothing flat. The
blond stud leaves to go get beer, and his bud picks up one of the
magazines he leaves behind. Photos from Mizer's publications are

The yearn to touch, the taboo of male-to-male sex, is clearly palpable in
the scene.

The illustrations of Quaintance take a major role in the next segment,
as Julien recreates some of them with living tableaux. Quaintance's love
of the American West lends itself to a cowboy theme, this time with a
gorgeous, sultry, ponytailed stunner (Alex Villaboas) waking up from a
bunkhouse nap to spy on two pardners. Villaboas quickly gets a
rock-hard erection, grabs his thick dick, and plays with the extra-long foreskin.
Julien then edits in not only some of Quaintance's original work, but
also adds his own re-creations, cutting back and forth with Villaboas'
jerk-off session. Sweat pops out on his muscles, making them gleam in the light, just before the hot cowboy shoots his load.

In a rather abrupt, but nonetheless welcome change, the setting quickly
shifts from the American West to Rio, and the beach at Ipanema, where
studly boys in tiny bikinis abound. Of course, we talking Bjorn
territory here, and Julien (who has had some success with Brazilian beefcake
himself) manages to find some beauties who are definitely hot enough to
star in any Bjorn flick. The scene opens on a reclining, tanned stud
who is lazily stroking his cock in the sun. He fingers his erect nipples as
he slides his foreskin up and down. Cut to the second stud, who is making
love to the Bjorn still shots that are being projected onto his hot
body and the wall behind him, while he jerks himself. This stud has luscious

>From the moment you see the set of the fourth and final segment, you
know that Julien has done his homework on The Hun. Suggestive graffiti
covers the walls of a jail cell, as is evident in many of the Hun's drawings.
When the new prisoner is brought in, he finds some pages featuring the
Hun's best work -- which sets off a night of dreams and fantasies. By
the time all the muscular, hot leather studs who populate the prisoner's
dream orgasm, he is drenched in their cum.

But it's only a dream. Back in reality, the prisoner lies naked on his
